Our Career Managers at Career Intelligence are confronted with questions on ‘Updating Your CV‘ very regularly, and this isn’t surprising as a CV is not only the first step to getting a new job or position, but also an insight into who you are professionally (and sometimes personally, too). There are a few important rules when it comes to updating your CV, such as how to present and format it, but there are also a number of misconceptions about CV’s.
Updating Your CV The Right Way
There are times in a Senior Executive’s life when he/she needs to find a new career, and with this comes the need for a CV update. The two key components to a great CV are content and formatting – Not only do you need to present yourself and your professionalism (including experience and achievements) but you need to present it in the right way. One misconception about the layout of a CV is that it needs to begin with your
education. But you need to ask yourself if it is important whether or not the person reading it needs to know where you graduated from High School a number of decades ago? Do you not think it more important that the employeer or recruiter can identify what makes you the best person for the job? Watch the video with Colin Duncan to learn more about updating your CV.
