Tokyo, The Most Expensive City In The World For Expats
Tokyo has become the most expensive city in the world for expats due to a rise in the price of imported goods after the 2011 earthquake.
Japan’s capital is home to more than 32 million people and is plagued with extreme congestion and high prices for land. Mercer conducted a ‘Cost of Living’ survey in 2011 which found that three Japanese cities (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya) featured in
the top ten most expensive cities in the world, with Tokyo firmly in the top spot.
Known for its culture, entertainment, cuisine and breathtaking views, Tokyo is a city of incredible wealth and beauty. A popular tourist time of year is April, when the blossoming of the cherry takes place – Sakura season.
